If I Didn’t Say Yes…

Then perhaps this wouldn’t have been captured.

WORDUP and Kasi Rocswell

WORDUP and Kasi Rocswell

Recently shot this in the studio during a session with WORDUP and Kasi Rocswell of Dope City Saints. Lesser known fact: WORDUP was the first person I had a shoot with when I bought my first DSLR in 2008.

{ego} Release Party 08/10/2012

This past Friday was the release of Left Coast Flock’s {ego} series of projects. Elijah Monday released the {ego} album and Toro released The Boy Who Would Be King. The show was also a tribute to Alex Rhymescheme Morris. I headed out to San Francisco to get some photos of the show. I haven’t shot with flash on top of the camera in a long time (maybe roughly a year). Thankfully my old rechargeable batteries still work great. Here are some photos from the night. Shooting with the Panasonic DMC-L1

Shooting with the Panasonic DMC-L1

Shot this photo with the Panasonic DMC-L1 and Summilux 25mm 1.4 lens. This camera is an interesting case. It has a rangefinder style body, but is quite bulky, as is the lens. Together, they are capable of taking excellent, detailed images. The camera is quite limited, especially when comparing it to my E-5. However, I have found it very fun to use with the 25mm. More recently I shot with the Panasonic GH2 and m4/3 version of the 25mm 1.4 and I love that combo as well. Maybe I just love cameras though.

Just Another Day in the Park…With a Light!

Today was the annual Hip-Hop in the Park in Berkeley. What is Hip-Hop in the Park? A free mini festival where you’ll find performers (emcees/dj), b-boys/girls and graffiti artists. This year I thought I would do things a little different. Normally I would sit near the stage and photograph performances. Today, I just wanted to relax in the crowd (minus shooting photos and handing out cards). I brought a strobe (White Lightning X1600) with me and decided to have myself an outdoor photo booth. I just bought a new beauty dish and today was the perfect day to test it out. I think I’ll be using this thing quite a lot. Hanging out with friends is always great! Making new acquaintances is great! Shooting photos is great! It was indeed a great day. Anyways, here’s some shots from the day.

Photo Friday 03/09/2012

Don’t mind me, just taking some self portraits at a wide-angle. I love wide-angle photos of people. Anyways, planning to pack up the camera and go on a mini adventure tomorrow. Where will I go? Not 100% sure. Hopefully there will be something interesting to photograph.
